Permanent Badges Verses Re-usable Badges

rvp.JPG

The answer depends on the volume of badges, the style you choose and purpose you need them for. Name badges play an important role in the corporate, government and private business landscape.  They provide us with confidence in being able to identify staff members from the general public, offer a passive introduction and offer an important opportunity to businesses to put a personal face and name to their brand. Name badges are a low cost and simple way for businesses to create a personal relationship with their customers and clients.  The question the accounts department will be asking is “how much will it cost”?

There is no doubt that a business image can be improved when employees are crisply dressed and wearing stylish and professionally produced permanent badges.  These badges can be produced to reflect your company branding through the use of colours and logos and can identify your staff member by their name and the position they hold.  The badge becomes an important aspect to your company uniform and can take the place of a uniform at social or networking meetings.

If you are holding a workshop, conference or you have visitors through you premises then a re-usable badge is a much more cost effective and flexible option while still retaining high quality.  Whenever you have a rapid turn-over of clients, for example at a presentation, workshop or conference then re-usable, temporary name badges provide you with the flexibility to create your own in-house name tags.  The name tag holders can be used again and again, keeping your costs to a minimum.  The argument between re-usable and permanent will be won depending on volume of badges you need, the churn rate and the purpose for which they will be needed.

Metal badges – put some punch in your campaign

If you are organising an event and you want to make a lasting impact then a metal badge will be an important part of your promotional give away strategy.  Whether you’re looking for a low cost cold enamel badge, a stylish full enamel badge or a prestigious corporate full metal badge with detailed etching you are bound to find a style and price to suit.  Metal badges are both cost effective and stylish and can be customised to suit your business and the occasion.

The benefits of a metal badge range from their longevity as a piece of jewellery or memorabilia to the ability for them to be made in almost any shape you want.  The precision printing and enamelling techniques mean that even complex designs can be produced with clarity.  The enamelling process allows for a full range of colours to be produced and you can choose from a wide range of sizes.  Metal badges are perfect to commemorate important events, such as business milestones, school anniversaries, promotions and to recognise staff service achievements.  They can also be used as stylish giveaways at trade shows and exhibitions, used as fundraisers and worn with pride by members of associations, sporting groups, unions and community organisations.

The metal badge is an item of quality that people are reluctant to throw away.  Their longevity is one of their most valuable attributes and as such they may keep the connection between your business, group or event and the person who received the badge alive for years or even decades after they received it.  As with most manufacturing orders, the more you need the lower the unit cost becomes, making metal badges a great option for large events where high quality name tags are required.

What’s the real cost of providing badges for your staff?

Anyone who knows anything about business knows that developing a relationship with your customers or clients is the key to maintaining and growing your business.  You probably spend a lot of time thinking about your business strategies and how to increase your market share. One simple administration decision, to purchase name badges for your staff, could actually increase your business in ways you may not have considered.

One of the simplest ways to begin a relationship is by sharing your name.  Supplying each staff member with a name badge is the first step in developing a relationship with your customers.  Staff badges can be made to reflect your business branding and logo.  It is a simple, yet effective, way of identifying your staff to your customers and putting your clients at ease by knowing they are talking to the right person.  Your staff members represent the public face of your company, whether they are seated at the reception desk, on the shop floor or driving the bus, they are the human face of your business.

Providing badges for your staff is also an important aspect to your business security.  Badges allow you to quickly identify people and help maintain security in “staff only” areas.  It also provides confidence to your customers that they are talking to an actual company representative.  From an administration point of view the time taken to order company badges is minimal – it’s probably one of the simplest and quickest tasks to undertake. The question is; can you afford not too?

As we welcome n a new year, i would like to take this opportunity to look back and reflect. It has been a growth year for Signal Advantage in many areas including, new technology, machinery, products, people and revenue streams

Sales – Sales have had a really good year, with lots of milestones and records broken. We introduced many new leading brands to the stable including some of the biggest brands in Australia. We also launched a total of three new products to market and look to see a major increae in sales early 2012. We introduced a new sales person (Kate) to the team and its proved to be a great start to the new financial year. We would like to thank all of our clients, suppliers and most improtantly the sales team for a job well done. 2012 holds some interesting developments, watch this space!

Manufacturing – Its been a very interesting year in manufacturing, there has been some major shift in our processes and procedures, streamlining so that our clients receive their products on time, right first time. The team have pulled together and smashed existing production records pretty much month on month so well done to the team. We have also taken delivery of new technology adding to our existing range of ID products and solutions and it has been a steep learning curve for us all. 2012 is going to be a testing year and we look forward to it with confidence.

SOL ID – SOL ID has evolved in to an e cart shopping solution for a number of our biggest clients, affording them the opportunity of having a one stop shop to order all of the products we provide (including custom) at their convenience.  This has proved invaluable to some of our clients and we will be adding other benefits throughout 2012. The biggest win for SOL ID is the ability to order and upload photo’s for photogrpahic ID, this is the only fully functioning online photo upload in Australia and we are very proud of it.

Summary – Its been a year of development, growth and sales. Already there is some big news for 2012 which we will be announcing in early February and things are looking healthy already. There will also be some major investment in people and technology making sure that we enforce our position as Australia’s leading supplier.

May I take this opportunity to personally thank of all of our valued clients for thie business and we look forward to working with you in the coming 12 months. I hope your New Years celebrations are safe and you have a lot of fun.

Have you thought about creating a badge for your next event in 2012?

 signal-girl.jpg

Every day in Australia thousands of events are taking place. Workshops and conferences are being held, trade shows are opening, schools are holding reunions, volunteer groups are hosting morning teas, community groups are running courses; the list is endless.  At each of these occasions people will be wearing name badges, either the ones they have been supplied by their employer or committee, or temporary ones supplied by the event organiser.  If you are planning to hold an event then considering the type of name badge you will supply will definitely be on your “to do” list.

Name badges are an important way for people to connect with one other.  They provide a passive introduction, display information related to the position the person holds within the company, and reduce the stress of having to rely on our memory to remember names.  For workshops and community events temporary badges are an easy, low cost and flexible way to provide name tags to everyone who attends.  Badges can be attached by pin, alligator clip or magnet; alternatively they can be teamed up with a lanyard.  Different coloured lanyards can be used to identify different groups within the event, for example sponsors, exhibitors and so on.

For your employees a permanent badge is a cost effective option as it will provide greater durability and differentiate your staff from your participants or the general public. Badges can also be used as a promotional tool.  Button badges are quick and cheap to produce and can be used as a promotional giveaway to potential customers, or as an awareness raising campaign for your brand, product or service.  They can also be used as a way of attracting attention to your staff so the public know who to talk to about your promotion.

No matter what event you are organising you are bound to need at least one style of badge, and we are here to help

Regards

Simon

Button badges – a fun way to promote your business or event!

Merry Xmas

If in 2012 you’re organising a trade show, conference, promotional activity or even a school fete button badges are a low cost way to make an impact.  Button badges are a cheap promotional tool that can add colour, vitality and fun to your next event.  A well designed badge will get noticed and more importantly people will want to wear it.  The versatility of a badge means it can be worn anywhere, on your shirt, hat, back pack or even attached to other promotional items.

Button badges come in a range of sizes, so you can make a huge impact with badges up to 80mm wide or as small as 20mm.  A four colour printing process means you can create the full spectrum of colours no matter how complex your logo, image or design.  The turn-around time from ordering to delivery is quick so if you haven’t ordered your button badges yet the chances are there is still time.

Button badges are not designed to be kept for a long time – they are cheap to manufacture so you can get maximum impact for a short period of time.  You can go for a very simple, bold, impact style button which will get noticed or take a bit more time in designing one which may be used longer and is more decorative.  It all depends on the part your button plays in your overall marketing strategy.

A button badge is a cheap, quick and effective way to draw attention to your business, product or service.  It can simply be a way to catch the eye of a potential customer and open to the door to a conversation that may lead to a positive business outcome.

We can help!

Somehing to think about

Merry Xmas

New research commissioned by Signal Advantage shows that good customer service can be as simple as wearing a name badge. The omnibus survey found that for blue-chip companies like Qantas, Woolies, coles and Virgin. if their staff wear personalised badges they will be more favoured than those that don’t.  According to Graham Budinger, Commercial Director at Signal Advantage, “Businesses operating in a customer facing environment should take note. companies that opt for a a professionally designed badge will be greatly appreciated by the consumer, putting them at ease and making your service personable”.

Mr Budinger adds, “Creating that ideal shopping environment lays at the heart of customer loyalty and satisfaction as it is about an experience. Discovering that something as simple as a badge has such an effect in establishing consumer comfort is an extremely helpful piece of research.

Here are the questions and answers from the recent survey.

1. In a customer-facing environment where staff wear personalised name badges – what information would you like to see on the badge?

    • Title (Mr, Mrs etc) 36%
    • First Name 82%
    • Last Name 59% Job Title 73%
    • Company Logo 53%

      2. In a customer-facing environment where staff wear personalised name badges – what is the most important reason for staff wearing that badge in your opinion?

      • To identify a member of staff 50%
      • A badge makes you feel more comfortable as you know who is serving you 26%
      • So you can ask a question 7% To thank the staff member 5%
      • To identify the manager 4%
      • To complain about a member of staff 3%
      • To brand a shop or outlet 2%
      • Don’t know 1%
      • None of these 2%

How to design the perfect name badge!

      signal-girl.jpg

There are two basic problems with name badges today – poorly prepared and poorly worn. What is the purpose of a name badge? No secret here – it’s the NAME not a logo. You’ve seen them; the ones that have a weird layouts, huge or small logo and the name is printed in silly fonts at silly sizes. That kind of badge is of no value.

When preparing a professional name badge place the organization logo where it is claer and not encroaching on the name. Make it no more than ¼ the size of the badge area. Now take your name list and select the longest name, place the first name on top and the last name under it. Now size it to the largest font that will fit on the badge. In almost all cases you will have a font size that will work for all the badges.

      logos.JPG

The next issue is where to place the name badge so it is quickly and easily seen and read. The best place is on your upper right side near your right shoulder. In this elevated position it is closer to the eye level of any person approaching you. When you extend your right arm to shake hands your eyes move forward along your arm directly to the other person’s badge for a quick read.

      badge.jpg

Studies have shown that you are 85% more likely to remember someone’s name when you don’t have to cross their centre body line to find it. Name badges usually come with a clip or pin. For men their suit jackets or shirts can easily accommodate the badge in the proper position. A business woman should be careful to choose her attire so it can easily accommodate a name badge. She should choose something that will not be harmed by a pin and provide a way to clip the badge to her upper right side. If you place the name badge in other positions it defeats the purpose of the badge.

These simple guidelines will help you make the right decisions first time and provide a workable fully functional name badge for yur organisation..

      Smon

How important it is, to to wear a name badge at a networking or business event!

      badge.jpg

A name badge is crucial at meetings and networking events. If you aren’t wearing your name badge, potential clients in need of your products and services may pass you by if all you are is a nameless face.  It recently happened to a cabinet maker in Melbourne who missed out on a $62,000 contract.A contractor in Victoria recently visited a trade networking event as he was looking for a cabinet maker, the event organiser knew of a cabinet maker and gave him and the contractor the heads up that there was a deal to be done.

On the day of the event the contractor networked and read each and every name badge, searching for the cabinet maker, but the cabinet maker had not purchased a namebadge. Without a name badge, the cabinet maker was a nameless face with an unidentified profession. One week later, the contractor awarded a different cabinet maker a $62,000 contract, and this cabinet makers name was Derek!

Remember this next time you are attending or organising a business event.
